Rock’N’RollSoul Summer Special

Rock'n'RollSoul Summer Special 2003 flyer
London’s top new Soul and Funk club is visiting the Island on the 26th July for a one off night at the Riverside Music Rooms in Laxey. Tickets are now available from Switched On Records; Black and Blue; the Bay Hotel, Port Erin; and from here directly (just send an e-mail to sales@ballagroove.com), tickets are only available in advance for £5 GBP each, so get ’em now!

All five of the clubs resident DJ’s are appearing, and will be playing an excellent eclectic mix of music including Funk, Soul, Northern Soul, Hi Voltage Rock and Roll, Exotica, etc. The club has been going from success to success and was recently voted 2nd best club in London by ‘We are London’ magazine, and has attracted such luminaries as Noel Gallagher and The Warlocks!

We’ve arranged a top quality PA and lighting rig especially for the night to ensure a great night is had by all 🙂

Check Rock’N’RollSoul for more details of the club and keep an eye on Ballagroove for regular updates.

For advance notification join our mailing list by e-mailing info@ballagroove.com.

In the words of the Rock and Roll Soul Crew themselves:

“A floorfilling night of rock classics taken to soulsville and soul groovers given the skinny white boys treatment with the usual mix of soul, boogaloo, 60s nuggets, dirty funk, punk and country rock.

Rock’n’RollSoul is London’s fastest growing club night. Serving up a diet of soul that rocks and rock with soul since 2001, every night they’ve put on this year at the Albany – former home to the equally debauched Heavenly Social – has been a total sell-out. The club was even voted 2nd best night out in London (second only to Trash) by the website wearelondon.co.uk.

The Rock’n’RollSoul website has had over 6,000 visitors. Rock’n’RollSoul has attracted guests of the calibre of Ace Records’ Dean Rudland, former Blow Up resident and Blur tour DJ Andy Lewis and EMI soul compilation guru Stuart Kirkham. Noel Gallagher wore a Rock’n’RollSoul badge on the front cover of NME and the Soledad Brothers‘ Ben Swank is a regular. Next time he comes, he says it will be with his mates The White Stripes. Last year’s Christmas party saw queues down the street for Stars In Their Eyes winner Emma Wilkinson’s bravura turn as Dusty Springfield.

Rock’n’RollSoul residents Gary, Martin, Nat, Al and Jimmy have provided the sounds at the official aftershow for the Reading/Leeds festivals and the premiere of The Band’s ‘Last Waltz’ DVD. They have also been invited to present a Rock’n’RollSoul pub quiz at seminal London muso boozer, Filthy McNasty’s.

In addition, Rock’n’RollSoul has spawned a sister night at East London’s Smersh bar, gone on the road to Brighton and will this summer visit the idyllic Laxey Glen Gardens in the Isle Of Man for our Summer Special in conjunction with local promoters/musicians Ballagroove, and extended into cyberspace with a pre-club knees-up on web radio station, Soul 24-7. A compilation album and another riotous Christmas party, this time taking over both floors of The Albany are currently in the pipeline.” – Rock’n’RollSoul Press Release
